One possible version:

The scores for English in the Beijing’s college entrance examination will be reduced in 2016 while Chinese will have the increased role under the new reform, which has drawn much public attention and triggers other provinces’ reforms.

I am in favor of this new change which raises the value of Chinese by shifting points from English to Chinese. I think Chinese learning is as important as English learning. However, starting from primary school, we have given emphasis on English over Chinese by taking extra classes in English besides learning at school. The reform aims to balance English and Chinese studies, helping us realize the importance of mother tongue in the curriculum.

Since the national college entrance examination plays a complex role in education system, every change in it could cause a hot debate as well as a series of changes in society, such as changing teaching models of primary education, breaking related industry chains and promoting Chinese studies.

As for me, I don’t think English learning will become less important than before. Instead of ignoring its practical application, I will put more effort into promoting listening, speaking, and other comprehensive abilities.
