What happened to Dr Baker at the conference?

AT THE CONFERENCE (1)

"That's funny!" said Dr Baker to himself, looking at the invitation. "An invitation to the 199... Medical Conference in London. They don't usually invite me." He looked at his diary and found that he would be free that week. He decided to attend the meeting though he was still a bit surprised. He wondered why they had invited him. Dr Baker replied to the invitation, accepting it.

A few months later, Dr Baker arrived at the conference. He knew several people there. One or two of them were surprised to see him. "I didn't know you were coming," said one.On the morning of the second day of the conference, everybody was waiting in the main conference room for the speaker. She had not yet arrived. After about twenty minutes, one of the organizers of the conference came into the hall.

"Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention, please?" he said. "Dr Lively was going to give a talk this morning. I'm afraid her plane will be very late because of bad weather at the airport. So she will be unable to give her talk today. However, we are lucky to have another world-famous expert here at the conference. I hope very much that he will be able to give a talk on a different subject. If Dr Baker is in the hall, will he please make himself known to me?"

Dr Baker got up and went over to the organizer. “I'm Dr Baker," he said. “How can I help you?”

“Ah! Dr Baker, I'm so glad you're here. I'm looking for another speaker who could give a talk, as our main speaker can’t get here today. Would you mind giving a talk today about DNA?”

“About DNA?” said Dr Baker. “You must be joking! I know nothing at all about that subject.”

“But Dr Baker, you're world-famous.”

"You can't be serious!"

"Everybody knows that you're an expert on the subject. Everybody here has read

Peter Baker's 'Introduction to DNA'."

"That may be so," said Dr Baker. "But I'm not Peter Baker; I'm David Baker!"
