【范文】

Mr. Smith,

I am so sorry that I won’t be able to experience English traditional culture next Sunday morning at your home. It is a pity to miss such a good chance.

Just now, my cousin Li Tao, who went to Australia for further study last year, informed me that he would return next Sunday morning and asked me to pick him up at the airport. You know, we haven’ t seen each other for nearly a year.

By the way, are there any pictures to be taken then? If yes, Could I have some? I sincerely hope you can accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Yours sincerely

Li Hua

听力文稿:

Text 1

W: Shall we have coffee, tea or juice?

M: I wouldn’t say no to coffee. I prefer it to tea or juice.

Text 2

M: Hey, do you know when the meeting is over this afternoon?

W: It is supposed to end at 5:00, but the boss never lets us go on time.

Text 3

W: Look at that big field of cotton. And there’s a farm with some beautiful houses.

M: You can really get to know the country when you go by train. Before we arrive at Berlin, we can enjoy many beautiful sceneries.

Text 4

M: How old are the members of your family?

W: My husband is 50. My first daughter is 24, and my second daughter is 20. My only son is 15 and I am twice my first daughter’s age.

Text 5

M: Have you finished reading the book you bought last month?

W: Oh, I didn’t read straight from the beginning to the end. I just covered a few chapters which interested me most.

Text 6

W: Tom, may I ask you a question?

M: Sure. Go ahead.

W: If you had plenty of money, where would you like to go for your vacation?

M: First, I would go to the seaside to enjoy the fresh air, and then go to visit the Great Wall. How about you?

W: If I had enough money, I would travel the world. I want to see the Statue of Liberty, Stonehenge, the Pyramids in Egypt and so much more.

M: That sounds great. But I guess we have to stop dreaming. We don’t have that much money, so we have to stay at home for vacation.

W: What shall we do, then?

M: Finish our homework.

Text 7

M: Hello, may I send a parcel to Toronto here?

W: Yes, what is inside your parcel?

M: Two shirts, a tie and a suit.

W: By regular mail or airmail?

M: How long does it take to go by regular mail from here to Toronto and how long to go by airmail?

W: Err … it takes two weeks by regular mail, while it takes three or four days by airmail.

M: How much for a regular mail?

W: It depends on the weight of your parcel. Let me weigh it first. It’s 3 pounds and 8 ounce, so it costs $ 11.12 by regular mail and $ 18.25 by airmail.

M: By air, please. Here is the money.

Text 8

W: Excuse me. I was wondering if you could help me. I am a new comer here.

M: Sure. I’d be glad to. What do you want to know?

W: Can you tell me what time the school bus leaves for town? I don’t have the timetable.

M: Hmm… let me see. The first bus leaves at 7 in the morning, the second at 12 noon, and the last at 6 in the afternoon.

W: Thank you very much. What time do you have now? I want to take the second bus.

M: 11:40. You got plenty of time.

W: And could you tell me where I should wait for the bus?

M: Over there beside the pool. There is a sign. You can’t miss it and you can also find the timetable on it.

W: Many thanks.

M: You are welcome.

Text 9

W: Dr. Silver’s office. How can I help you, sir?

M: I’d like to make an appointment to have a check-up, please.

W: Okay. Could I have your name, please?

M: Yes. My name is Ian Conley.

W: Mr. Conely, how about the day after tomorrow at 9:30?

M: Um… would you have anything in the afternoon? I have a meeting Thursday morning.

W: Okay. Humm… we do have an opening that afternoon at 4:00. Would that be good for you?

M: Yes, that would be just fine.

W: Okay. Mr. Conley, while I have you on the line, could I just check a few things?

M: Sure.

W: Is your address still 2354 Locklear Street, apartment 11?

M: Actually, ma’ma, it’s number 17.

W: Okay, I’ll change that. And your number ---is it 233-4027?

M: Yes, it is.

W: Thank you, Mr. Conley. I’ll correct the mistake and update your file. Alright, I have you down for 4:00 on Thursday afternoon.

M: Thanks.

W: Bye.
