To do reading comprehension of the texts
– “The sea” “Salt lakes of the world”
“Life in the oceans” so that students
will be able to learn things about the
sea and the living things in the sea and
they can talk and write about this kind
of things in English. At the same time
finish the related exercises and some
other tasks of listening, speaking, reading
and writing both in the students’ book
and in the workbook in this unit.
II. Developing students’ competence
1. To develop students’ abilities of listening,
speaking, reading, and writing .
2. To develop students’ ability of communication,
esp. about expressing wishes.
3. To develop students’ ability of using
English by making up dialogues by using
the daily expressions and making sentences
and writing a short passage with the new
words and useful phrases in this unit.
4. To encourage students to find more
information related to the texts in this
unit in order that they can gain much
more and do some discussion about the
texts, using the knowledge they have learned
in this unit so that they can express
their ideas freely in English
5. To develop reading skills: Teach them
how to skim over the text to grasp the
main idea quickly, and how to scan the
text to find out the special information.
III. Moral education
Through the learning of this unit of will
get students to know about the sea and
the living things in the sea and the nature
and the relationship between human beings
and the natural surroundings so as to
arouse students’ responsibility for protecting
our environment and get students to feel
it their duty to do their bit for the
nature.
