It was a bad time for me. I was low emotionally and tired physically. Probably because of this I hadn't shaved for a few days. Also, because I had been doing some repairs at my daughter's house, I was dressed quite scruffily(不整洁地). Boarding the bus to go home, I saw it was almost full so I found a rail(扶手) to lean against.

That's when a young woman, sitting with her child, stood up and offered me her seat. "Wow！" I thought. Out loud I said, "Do I look that old and tired7" She replied," You look like you've had a tough day. " I thanked her sincerely and stayed standing.

A moment later a man rose from his seat at the back of the bus and made his way towards me, squeezing past several people on the way. Then he told me about his addiction problems, asked my advice, and just chatted about life for a few minutes. Then he went hack to his seat.

Very random !

Watching him go, I also looked at the bus-load of people between me and his seat. He hadn't chosen to talk to those strangers. He chose to talk to this stranger, for whatever it meant to him and whatever comfort it brought him, Why?

That's when it occurred to me. I must have Looked Like I had been where he was probably looked like a man who would understand a difficult life. I was humbled and uplifted at the same time by the realization that even when we are at our lowest we can still help others-if we look like we might be able to meet them where they live or walk a while in their world.

Last week I visited my grandparents. My aunt was also staying there for a few nights for a family visit. My grandma had told me my aunt’s money problems and always feels so bad for her.

? My aunt, Jenney Brown, is in her early thirties and she has three little children, along with serious heart problems. Her husband died of cancer a few years ago and she has lost her job recently. She has a lot of financial difficulty. She told me some things in her life: She couldn’t get milk for her little boy since it is too expensive. She was so happy to find $2 jeans(工装裤) at a shop even though it couldn’t really fit her, she was worried about the long drive to my grandparants’house, because she had no food for the next day and no money to buy gas on the way as she had spend her last $20.

? I had saved some money . After hearing about her troubles, I went downstairs and put a note of $50 in the front pocket of the handbag in secret. I didn’t want to give her money directly, because I knew it would embarrass her and that she would refuse it since I’m a kid and don’t have a job.

Do you want to improve your English and get the best possible results in your GRE test? We have two night classes each week designed to meet your needs. Tuesday and Thursday evenings: 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm, $ 60 per day.

Course 5: One on One

If you are interested in some One on One lessons with TIES teachers, we can design a course to meet your needs. One on One lessons can improve your English language skills more quickly and help students who want to take TOEFL. Tuesday to Friday: 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, $ 80 per hour.
