One possible version:

As is shown in the picture, a frog is waiting quietly in the grass, but if we turn the picture left for 90 degrees, the frog is turned into a horse! How amazing! Simple as this picture is, it does show us that thinking from different angles is of great importance.

Take frustrations in our studies for example. Faced with a set-back, many of us will be unable to recover from it, filled with fear or complaint. Some even choose to escape. But if we can think from another angle, not only can frustrations be precious experiences from which we can learn a lot of lessons, but also they can be a driving force that will help us create great success. As the old saying goes, “Misfortune may prove to be a blessing in disguise.” Thus, think from different angles and another quite different world may appear in front of you.

录音原文

Conversation 1

W: Is it supposed to be this loud up here?

M: Yeah! We’re flying at 10,000 feet. OK! Don’t look down, just jump!

W: I don’t know if I can do this, Paul! I’m scared!

M: Don’ t worry. I’ll be there with you the whole time. Ready? One, two, three!

W: Wait, wait, wait! I just want to say that I love you, in case anything happens.

M: I love you, too, but nothing is going to happen. Now, remember the hand signs I taught you ... We’ll need to use them when we’re in the air.

W: Uh, what hand signs?!

Conversation 2

W: Have you been coming to this self-service laundry long?

M: Yes, for a few years. It doesn’t cost too much to do laundry here, you know, and I am often quite busy in my office. What about you?

W: I’ve just started doing my clothes here. My washing machine broke down two weeks ago.

M: Why not get it fixed?

W: Well, I called a repairman, but I just couldn’t afford it.

M: So you’re just going to do your wash here?

W: Well, I bought a second-hand washing machine last week but it hasn’t been delivered.

Conversation 3

W: Oh, here comes the waitress with our check.

M: The service here has been really great, don’t you think?

W: Yes, the service was quite good, as well as the food, but I liked the music here the most.

M: Me, too. Well, the total is $50.

W: How much do you think we should leave for a tip?

M: Usually people leave 15 percent, but this was exceptional service. I am thinking that maybe 20 percent would be appropriate.

W: I agree that 20 percent would be just about right. What a nice dinner that was!

Conversation 4

M: Good morning. May I help you?

W: I’d like to rent a car, please.

M: Okay. Full-size, mid-size or compact, madam?

W: Compact is OK. What’s the rate?

M: 78 dollars a day.

W: And I’d like to have insurance just in case.

M: If you want full coverage insurance, it will be 8 dollars per day.

W: All right. I’ll take it, too.

M: Here is our brochure, madam. Err... compact... OK. Please choose a model in this section.

W: How about this one?

M: All right. How many days would you like to use it?

W: Just one day.

M: May I see your driver’s license please?

W: Is the international driving license fine?

M: Yes, it is. Thank you. Please fill in this form.

Conversation 5

W: Hey, are you watching YouTube?

M: Yeah. I love all the funny videos that people post.

W: Have you ever seen the YouTube show Epic Meal Time?

M: Uh, no. I didn’t know YouTube had shows. I thought it was only home videos and music videos ... stuff like that.

W: Well, YouTube also has channels, just like regular TV. There are many different kinds of shows every week. Most of them are shorter and cheaper to make than regular TV, though.

M: YouTube is even cooler than I thought! So, what’s Epic Meal Time?

W: There’s a group of guys who make the unhealthy meals they can possible cook. Everything has bacon on it. Most things are fried, and there is a ton of cheese on everything. We’re talking tens of thousands of calories in one meal! In this show, the main guy introduces the meal, and then you see them shopping for the ingredients. You watch them cook everything. And at the end, they all eat it with their friends!

Conversation 6

M: I wonder if this is going to be an interesting class.

W: Yeah. Me too. So, what's your major?

M: Well, my dad keeps telling me I have to choose a major, but I haven't decided at the moment.

W: Ah, that's what happened to me my freshman year.

M: Oh, so what year are you in school?

W: I'm a senior, and I only have to take 10 more credits to graduate. Yeah!

M: Well. That must feel great to be almost finished with school.

W: You can say that again, but once I graduate, I have to start repaying a student loan, so I'm not looking forward to that.

M: But didn't your parents help you out with your college tuition?

W: No. My dad said he wasn't made of money, so he thought I should earn my own education, so I worked like crazy in the summer and part-time during the school year to cover most of my costs. And, I received some financial aid and a scholarship one year, which really saved me. But this past year, school has been more demanding, so I haven't been able to work as much.

M: Well, you know, at least you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

W: That's true.

Mini-talk:

Now many students open their own micro blogs on the Internet. For one thing, it can provide a colorful platform to show their talents. For another, it is a useful way to release their pressure. All these make it popular among high school students.

But many parents and teachers hold a different view. They think that managing one’s micro blog will take a lot of time and energy, which should be used to study.

In my view, I am greatly in favor of this activity. Today the Internet is playing an important role in our life. Therefore, as high school students of the Information Age, we need to communicate. What’s more, organizing micro blogs need various abilities such as writing, designing, being skillful at computer and so on. Only if we master those abilities can we make a successful micro blog. As a result, we can improve ourselves while organizing our micro blogs.

Therefore, micro blog itself is of little harm. It is your attitude towards it that matters. We should take the advantages and avoid some bad effects.
