Parents who push themselves too hard at work may harm their children’s chance of success at school. Research shows that mothers and fathers with career burnout pass on their feelings at home. Their children are more likely to lose interest in schoolwork. They can begin to worry they are not keeping up with their classmates, start to question the value of education and exams and may even experience the exhaustion that accompanies burnout.

The researchers, from the Academy of Finland’s educational arm, quizzed more than 500 teenagers about whether they had ever experienced burnout. If you see someone drowning, speed is very important. Once you get him out of the water, if he isn't breathing, you have four minutes before his brain is completely destroyed. Support his neck, move his head back and press his chin (下巴)upwards. This stops the tongue blocking the airway in the throat and is sometimes enough to get him breathing again. If that doesn't work, start mouth-to-mouth breathing. Press his nostrils (the two holes at the end of your nose, through which you breathe and smell things) together with your fingers.
