In America, May and June are the traditional months for graduation. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) collects information on the college job market. NACE’s latest survey in March found that employers expected to hire twenty-two percent fewer graduates this year than last year. Most blame the recession (衰退). The most recent student survey showed that just one-fifth of those who looked for jobs before graduation have one by now. This is compared to half of students who had looked for a job by this time two years ago. But there is one difference: fewer of this year’s graduates have started to search for jobs.

Another way to look for a job is to do an internship (实习). This is when a student gets experience in a position that may or may not be paid. The latest NACE survey found that seventy-three percent of graduates who did get jobs had completed an internship.

In the past, 11-year-old Michal Bodzianowski knew very little about beer. However, encouraged by his teacher, he tested a way for astronauts to brew beer in space.

What is even more surprising is that Michal’s way of brewing beer will be tested soon in the International Space Station. His idea of brewing beer is not for astronauts to have fun but for future human residents to have something to drink in space.

Michal said that he discovered the magic of beer in a book.
