On receiving my driver license a few months ago．I started driving right away．However it wasn’t until two days ago that Dad finally allowed me to drive on the motorway．Our destination was Orewa, a seaside town about 60 kilometers away from my home in Auckland．

That morning I made sure l had enough to drink and went to the bathroom three times before we left．I thought 1 was totally prepared for the journey，but nothing could have prepared me for my family’s complaints．

“Jack，relax! Don’t hold the steering wheel so tightly，”called a nervous voice from the backseat．“Speed up．70 km／h isn't fast enough．You are holding up the traffic，”another voice ordered from the seat next to mine．

How upset! My parents were really starting to get on my nerves．To content them I stepped hard on the accelerator(油门)，but within a second，an angry" voice began again．“Stop! Slow down! Slow down! Are you crazy? Did I tell you to go above 100 km／h?”

Everything went fine until I pulled 0ff the motorway and drove into the city，where the speed limit was only 50 km／h．My family seemed relaxed and stopped telling me what to do．They all looked out of the windows and enjoyed the scenery．

Sadly，that silence didn’t last very long．My mum suddenly cried out，“Look at those birds above us．Aren't they lovely?”

How did she expect me to look up in the air? As the driver I had to be attentive．Who knows what would have happened if I had taken my eyes off the road? Just one second's carelessness might have caused me to hit a poor dog or cat crossing the street．

We spent four hours in the town and then got back in the car to drive home．This time the journey was much easier than before as they both fell fast asleep．So，I just took my time and enjoyed the drive．

A recent study shows that boys and girls learn differently．So maybe we can maximize learning by teaching them in single gender(性别)programs．

First，boys and girls see differently. Boys interpret the world as objects moving through space．In their opinion，a good teacher should move around the room constantly and be that object．

The male eye is usually drawn to cooler colors like silver，blue，black，grey，and brown．It's no accident boys tend to create pictures of moving objects like spaceships，cars，and trucks in dark colors instead of drawing a happy colorful family，like girls in their class．The female eye，on the other hand，is drawn to textures (质地)and colors．They tend to like warmer colors—red，yellow，orange，and visuals with more details，like faces．Girls work well in circles，facing each other．Using descriptive phrases in presentations or lots of colors on the chalkboard can help get their attention．

Boys and girls also hear differently．When someone speaks in a loud tone，girls interpret it as yelling．They think you're mad and should quiet down．Girls are more sensitive to sounds．Girls' teachers should notice the tone of their voices．Boys'，teachers should sound matter of fact，even excited．

Boys' nervous systems cause them to be more alert when they're standing，moving，and the room temperature is around 20℃．Stress in boys tends to increase blood flow to their brains．a process that helps them stay focused．This won't work for girls，who are more focused seated in a warmer room around 25℃．Girls also respond to stress differently．When exposed to a threat，blood goes to their guts(内脏)，leaving them feeling nervous or anxious．
