How to Get Along Well with Other Students

Last week, our school conducted a survey among the students about “How to Get Along Well with Other Students”, and the results are as follows.

As many as 60% of the students think that one should be in good spirits all the time. It is also important to take an active part in various activities. However, 40% of the students hold the opinion that one should be honest, condierate, and always ready to help others. What’s more, it is good manners for a person not to speak ill of others in the absence of them.

As far as I’m concerned, the key to a good relationship with other students is kindness to others and love of life. Only in this way can we win the respect of others. (126 words)

附:听力原文

Test 1

W: Would you like some chocolate cakes. They’re so nice.

M: No, thanks. I’ll have an apple pie with ice cream on the top.

Test 2

W: You seem very confident about the job interview, don’t you?

M: Yes. I feel ready for it. I bought a good suit and I had my hair cut. I had studied almost everything about finance and economics.

Test 3

M: Have you gotten your Christmas shopping done yet?

W: Almost. I got a watch for my brother and a tie for my husband, but it seems that I can’t find anything for my Dad. He would probably like a book or a case for his coin collection.

Test 4

M: Excuse me. Are you taking a business trip to America on Flight 806?

W: Yes, but not for business. I’m just going there for a vacation.

M: So we are on the same flight.

W: Yes. We just have half an hour left until it’s time to board.

Test 5

M: I’m freezing to death. What’s the weather usually like here in winter?

W: It’s cold, but the temperature seldom gets as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

M: How about spring?

W: We don’t have a long spring. But on the whole, it’s pleasant.

Text 6

W: The vacation falls on Friday! Let’s get away for three days.

M: Have you settled on a place?

W: How about New York? I’m longing to see my parents. I haven’t seen them for three months.

M: Yes, it is really a very long time. I remember every time you met your parents, you always looked like a little kid.

W: Don’t make fun of me now. Parents are always parents. I love them.

M: OK. We may go around to their home first, and then you should go to Washington with me next time.

W: All right. Thank you, dear, and we can take turns driving. It’s less tiring that way.

M: OK.

Text 7

W: What are you reading, Paul?

M: Oh. It’s a book about engineering.

W: Why are you reading on Friday evening?

M: Because I’ve got to write a report about it this weekend.

W: What are you going to do when you graduate?

M: I’d like to get a job abroad, I think. What are you going to do, when your year is over?

W: I’m going to find a job about drawing.

M: What is John going to do?

W: I think he’s going to open a branch of “Pretty Feet” in London. Now he is seeing some designers in Italy. By the way, what are you going to do on Saturday evening?

M: I haven’t decided yet. Why?

W: Well, I thought we could cook another of our famous suppers, and invite John and Sue.

M: Oh, no! Sorry Barbara. But I really have to write my report then.

Text 8

W: Hello, reception.

M: Hello, I need to get my suit cleaned urgently. Do you have a dry cleaning service?

W: Yes, we do.

M: I need to get it cleaned tomorrow. Will that be a problem?

W: We have no problem with your request. You can use our express service and we can deliver it to you by 8am tomorrow.

M: That’s great. I’ll have it before breakfast. I have an important meeting tomorrow morning.

W: Do you have anything else that needs dry cleaning? If you clean four items you can get a discount.

M: Besides the suit, I just need my shirt cleaned.

W: OK, I’ll send someone to pick them up.

M: Thanks. Do I need to pay for that now?

W: No, we can charge it to your bill. What room are you in?

M: I’m in Room 2508. My name is Tony Smith.

W: OK. Mr. Smith. Someone will be with you shortly.

Test 9

M: Who is teaching the class?

W: Actually, I have a choice between Dr. Smith and Dr. Robinson. Do you know anything about them?

M: Sure. I’ve taken classes with both of them.

W: So what do you think?

M: They are both very good in their own way. But it depends on how you learn best, because they approach the class from two entirely different points of view.

W: I’ve heard that Dr. Robinson is very strict.

M: You could say that. I’d call it traditional. He gives lectures every day and gives quizzes every week.

W: How about Dr. Smith?

M: More relaxed. He uses group discussion and projects instead of quizzes. And I’m pretty sure his final is only a short essay.

W: Whose class would you advise me to take?

M: I really can’t say. If you like to listen to lectures and take notes, and if you do well in objectives tests, I’d say Dr. Robinson. But if you enjoy working in groups, and you do better on essay exams, then I’d recommend Dr. Smith.

W: Thanks. This is helpful. I think I’ll sign up for Dr. Robinson’s class.

Test 10

Good afternoon, everyone. I’m sure you are looking forward to meeting your host families you’re going to be staying with during the next four weeks. Now, please listen carefully to the following arrangements as your families are waiting in groups to meet you. If your family name begins with the letters from A to F, your host family will be waiting for you in this hall. Now, for those of you whose family name begins with the letters from G to L, you should go downstairs to the dining room. When you get there, make sure you go to the far end of the room by the drinking machine. People whose family names begin with the letters from M to R should go downstairs and wait at the opposite end of the dining room near the doors into the garden. And the final group, those whose family names begin with the letters from S to Z, must go out of this hall, past the office to the car park by the main gate and your families will be waiting there.
