Rubbish must be treated properly. Otherwise it may cause a lot of trouble. It may pollute the air and water. When people breathe the polluted air or drink the polluted water, they may get ill. ? Our city had begun to pay attention to the problem. For example, some rubbish is sorted and sent to different factories. Rubbish, such as newspapers and glass, is recycled. Some harmful rubbish is sent to a certain place and buried. Waste water is treated before it is poured into rivers. To protect the environment, the government has taken measures to prevent people from throwing rubbish everywhere. We should do our best to fight against pollution. At the same time, we should try our best to get people around us informed of the importance of protecting our living environment. 附:听力原文 Text 1 M: Good morning! Mr. Carson please? W: I'm afraid Mr. Carson is at a very important meeting at the moment and cannot be disturbed. May I know who's calling? Text 2 W: Do you have anything on tonight? M: Nothing special. Why? W: I’ve got two tickets for the football game. Would you like to go with me? M: Great! I'd love to. Text 3 W: Well, I’m calling about the wild life protection group I belong to. We're looking for more people to join, specially men. And I thought you might be interested. M: Oh. You know how much I love wild life, but this is my last year in the middle school. I’m quite busy with my lessons. Text 4 M: Did you enjoy your holidays in Brighton? W: Yes, we had a good time. And we had some friends with us there. M: Where did you stay? In a hotel? W: No. We camped near the mountains. Text 5 M: Nice to hear from you again after all these years. What have you been doing? W: Well, I have tried many things since school. I'm now working for a food processing company, in charge of sales. So I travel a lot. M: Oh, that's great. You must really enjoy it. Text 6 W: Hello. Is that you, Mr. Black? M: Yes, speaking. W: This is Linda. I just want to tell you that the meeting for this afternoon has been changed to half past two. M: I'm sorry, but I can't hear you clearly. Something is wrong with the line. Would you please repeat that? W: I said the meeting has been changed to half past two. Can you hear me? M: Yes, that’s better. So the meeting has been changed from two to half past two. Is that right? W: That's right. M: I see. Is there anything else? Text 7 M: Hi, Jane. It's nice to see you again. I heard that you went to the US during the vacation. W: Yes! I went to New York to attend a summer course in English M: Wow. You were lucky. How long did you stay there? W: About fifty days. I went there on July 5th and came back on August 25th. M: How about the course? W: The course was very good. The teachers were nice. They taught us to listen, speak, read and write in English, but mostly, speaking. One interesting thing I found was that American classes are different from our classes here because the students have a lot more freedom. You can sit anywhere you like in the classroom. You can ask the teachers questions at any time during the class, and you are welcome to share your ideas with the class. I really like this kind of class. M: How interesting! Maybe our teacher should try that. Text 8 W: What do you want to do tonight? M: How about going to the movies? I should be home from work at 5:20. Then we can go out and eat and then to the movies. W: What do you want to see? M: There is a good one at the cinema. Let's see that. W: It starts at 6:30 I don't think we can get there in time to see the beginning. How about the one at the New State? That starts at 7:00. M: No. I on t like Robert Redford. You know that. Maybe we should just stay home and watch TV. Then we can go out Friday night. W: Did you forget that Ed and Jean are coming to dinner that night? M: OK. I hope Saturday is all right. Do we have anything planned for then? W: No, Saturday is fine. And there's a good movie starting on Saturday too. M: Good. I' m going to play tennis Saturday morning but I'll be home by 2:00. Then we can go out for a big dinner and to the movie, if nothing else comes up. W: I'm sure we'll be able to go. Text 9 M: Morning, Lily! W: Morning, Bill. How was your vacation? M: Pretty good. W: How was the weather? M: It was wonderful most of the time. W: Didn't you have any rain? M: No. We had blue skies every day. W: What did your children do? M: They played on the beach the whole day and watched TV in the evening like at home. They seemed to have a lot of fun. W: Were you with them the whole time? M: No. We were lucky. We met a nice couple form New York, who had two children exactly the same age as ours. W: Oh, that's really great for the children. M: That's true and we took turns taking care of all the children. W: A good arrangement! M: Yes. In that way we all had several days of complete freedom. It was great. Text 10 M: It's so hard for me to learn English. Why is it so easy for you? W. I didn't know you were having problems. Maybe it’s easier for me because I already speak two languages. But also I really work at it. M: Well, I always do my homework and go to classes. What else do you think would help? W: You might try to read newspapers. And I always talk to Americans when I get a chance though sometimes it's hard. M: But, how do you meet Americans? I only know other foreign students. W: How about sitting next to an American at lunch, or have you ever thought of asking someone over to your house for dinner? M: Those are good ideas. But I’m a little shy to speak English. W: You won't learn if you don’t try to speak. If I were you, I’d talk to your English teacher. He might have some good ideas. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
