And I seldom find you take part in any other exercise after school. In my opinion, it’ s not good for you to do so. As you know, physical exercise is of great importance to our health as well as our school study. Only when we are strong and healthy can we have enough energy to learn our lessons efficiently. On the contrary, if we spend all of our time on subject study, we will become weak for lack of exercise, which will have a bad effect on our study in return. Therefore, I suggest that you should take as much exercise as you can. Yours, Li Hua 听力材料Text 1 M: What a mess! Clean up your bedroom right now! W: Please let me finish the movie first. I promise I’ll make it clean and tidy. Text 2 M: When do we have English class today? W: Oh, it’s 9 o’clock now. I think English class is in two hours. Text 3 M: You look pale. Have you checked your temperature? W: Yes, I have a cold. I’ll ask for leave to go to the hospital. Text 4 M: I remember there’s a post office next to the school. I want to send a letter. W: Sorry, I’m new here. But my friend can help you. Text 5 M: It’s so hot here. Would you be kind enough to open the door? W: But I’m afraid it will be too noisy then. Maybe I’ll just open the window instead. Text 6(6--7) M: Good afternoon. This is James Black. W: Good afternoon, Mr. Black. This is Lucy. May I speak to Ann, please? M: Sorry, she isn’t in right now. Could I take a message? W: Thank you. Ann asked me to go to the cinema with her this evening, but I’m afraid I can’t go. M: What’s the matter? W: My parents and I are going to the airport to meet my uncle. Text 7(8--10) W: Good evening sir! Can I take your order, please? M: This is my first visit to China. Could you tell me what different Chinese dishes you serve here? W: As you can see from the menu, we serve Shanghai, Guangdong, Sichuan, and Beijing dishes. M: Could you please tell me about their different features? W: I would be pleased to. Generally speaking, Guangdong food is a bit light. Sichuan food has a strong and hot flavor. Shanghai food is rather oily, and Beijing food is salty. M: I think I'll have Sichuan food this time. Could you recommend some dishes? W: Certainly. How much would you like to spend, sir? M: I don't care about the money. I'd just like to have some really delicious dishes. Text 8(11--13) M: Hey, Julia. Where are you going? It’s time for the third period. W: I just remembered that I left my history book in the library. I’m going to fetch it. M: Do you think it’s still there? W: I’m not sure. But I should have a try at least. Mr. Li will kill me if he finds me without a book in his class. M: Look! I’ve brought your history book from the library. You must be more careful next time. W: That’s it! It’s very kind of you. I really appreciate your help. M: The bell’s ringing. We’d better go back to class. Text 9(14--17) W: Good morning, Grand Hotel. M: Hello, I’d like to book a room for the nights of the 18th and 19th. W: Just a minute, please. Let me check the list. M: All right. And if possible, I’d like a room with windows facing the beach. W: I’m sorry, sir. We have no rooms left right now. Could you leave your phone number? If we get one later, we’ll contact you. M: OK. My number is 4-9-0-8-6-5-1. Thank you. W: It’s my pleasure. Text 10(18--20) W: Could you tell us how to comfort sad people, Mr. White? M: Yeah. There are always a lot of sad people in the world. How can we comfort these people? In my ten years of psychology study career, I’ve come up with some tips which may help you. I’d now like to talk about four of them. First, stop and make friends with people you come across, who are in need of comfort and friendship. Listen to them and do not respond until they have finished talking. Then think about your response carefully, so that you can help them better. Generally, listening silently is the most helpful way you can give support. Second, offer to ask them about the troubles they’re facing, and place a hand on their shoulder. This one simple gesture will make them feel less alone, but remember you can only do so when you are invited to. Third, ask others about their personal problems. Not everyone welcomes strangers’ getting close, so you must be careful when doing so. Asking others about their problems is a safe way to comfort them. Finally, offer a smile of understanding to them. A smile will help them know that they are not forgotten and are cared about. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
